  Carter was waiting for me in the lobby pacing, concerned for where I was. I walked in embarrassed like a kid that had snuck out and was busted.

  He started to clap lightly and smile. He came up to me kissing my forehead telling me how proud he was of me. Then looked down at his watch and got serious.

  “Glad you had fun but we have exactly 7 minutes before the shuttle will be here. I have all your stuff packed so go get dressed in your dress from last night and use some mouthwash and let’s get going. I am not missing that plane. I have a get me some date tonight with Will.”

  I walk off towards to the restrooms with a slap on my ass.

  I change quickly and make the best I can of what I have to do with. I had a long flight home and knew I was going to be uncomfortable in what I was wearing.

  I stopped by the office to drop off a note and requested it be delivered to Dane.

  Dane,

  Thank you again for last night. You will never know what you did for me. I will be forever thankful for you showing me the love you showed me last night. You made me happy. What you don’t know is, this week was supposed to be my ten-year anniversary and honeymoon that I never had. Instead I walked in on my husband who was having an affair. I arrived here feeling like a complete failure as a woman. You, Dane, made me feel like I am worth something.

  “You better rest your ass on that plane ride because we are heading straight over to get your crap and packing to get you back to Commerce. I can’t wait to have my girl back in town.”

  He took my hand and pulled me toward the door.
