  “Hey, did we lose you or something? You were in your own little world for a bit,” Beth said, concern in her voice.

  Beth smiled at me. “I hear you. I hope we can all start fresh and get along.”

  Frankie and Lexi showed up, and by that time, Gia was three drinks in and slowly warming up to Samantha.

  “H-Hello Samantha, Beth,” Lexi stammered, clearly not sure what to do and confused as to why they were here.

  “Relax, Lexi. It’s all good,” Gia slurred. “Sammy here is officially dating our boy, Mikey.” She slapped Mikey on the back.

  Frankie, who was standing next to Colin, burst out laughing. “About time, bro. It was getting old, listening to all your excuses as to why you had to go over there. I thought we had faulty appliances or something.”

  Mikey gave him the stink eye. “Shut up, dude.”

  “Are you okay with this?" Lexi cautiously asked Gia.

  “As long as she doesn't act like a dick stick, then I’ll make amends. The first time she gives anyone attitude, I’ll drop her on her pretty little ass. Besides, cowgirl has become friendly with her and failed to tell us. Wait ‘til that little bitch FaceTimes us tonight. I’ll put Samantha on and call her out on her little secret."   “Good. Are you on spring break in Aruba, too? Are Samantha and Stacy with you?” Shelby had a touch of panic in her voice.

  “Samantha is, but Stacy is with her family. Don't worry; Gia and Samantha have come to a truce. Samantha told her that the two you had already worked it out, and we’re good.”

  “Oh, crap. Gia is going to kill me for not telling her. I can hear her bitching all the way in Montana.” Shelby laughed.

  I chuckled. “She did mention how she was going to kick your ass, or something like that, for not being truthful to her. But you know Gia, she’s kicking someone's ass once a week. You’ll be fine.”

  “Where is everyone? I’ve been calling their phones, and no one is answering.”

  “They’re all back at their rooms,” I said, wiggling my eyebrows. “Beth and I are at the bar.”

  “Ohhh. Got you. I won't bother them; I just wanted to check in. I miss you guys. Hope you're having fun.”

  “So far, so good,” I said smiling and bumping into Beth.

  “Great. Well, I’m being summoned by the bride-to-be, so, I have to get going. Tell everyone I said hi. Love you!”

  “Love you, too, kiddo. Tell Jodi and Mike I said congrats, and I better get an invite.” I laughed.

  “Will do. See you later, guys.” Waving, she hung up.

  When I looked at Beth, her smile had faded.

  “Everything okay?”

  “No. I’m fine. You and Shelby make a cute couple,” she said. Was that disappointment I heard?

  “What? Shelby? No way. She’s like a little sister to me. I wouldn't cross that line with her. We’re too close. It’d be creepy.”

  “Oh. I thought… never mind. I just assumed.” Her face flushed.

  Placing my empty beer on the bar, I dropped a tip for Ruben. Thank God this was all-inclusive, because usually when the guys left, I got stuck with the bar tab. This one would have been a boatload.

  “All good, no worries. Do you want to take a walk down the beach? The moon is full, and it’s pretty bright so we can see where we’re going.”

  “No, I have to check on her.” Throwing my hair up on top of my head, I leaned over and kissed him.

  “I’ll bring us back some coffees. Now, go take a shower. We’re leaving for the boat at nine.”

  “But, look, we can play campers. I already have a tent.” He pointed to his hard-on sticking up under the sheet.

  Walking down the pathway towards the main lobby, I saw Gia. I hoped she meant what she said last night about starting fresh, and it wasn't the booze talking.

  “Nah, Joey is a real-life saint. I bet you he’s asleep on the floor, and Beth is in bed, safe and sound,” she said as she tried to balance the coffee tray and muffins.

  “I’m sure, but I still feel bad. Normally, Stacy is with us, and it’s not an issue.”

  “I better get going,” Joey said, throwing on his flip-flops. “We have the boat thing this morning, and Gia will have my nuts if I’m late.”

  “See you in a little bit.” Beth waved as Joey walked from the room.
